Makar Sankranti – a festival of harvest…
Makar Sankranti – a festival of constellations…
The word itself is self explanatory. It is when the Sun while moving through the different constellations moves into the constellation of Makar ( ), we call it Makar Sankranti
The social customs begin from today. They had been barred till now from last few days. The simple reason being, that the crop being ready to cut, needed to be harvested in time. So, the best way to keep farmers busy in their work, was to stop the social customs. This helps them concentrate on their work and do it perfectly. By this time, the harvesting is done and people are comparatively free.
Also the day is dedicated to worshipping the Sun. Sun being the source of all energy and in turn life needs to be understood. We Indians express gratefulness to the Sun for all that He has done for us.
On this day, would wish you, all your family members and your extended families a very Happy Makar Sankranti, Bhogi, Lohri, Khichadi and Tirmoori.

वाह। बेहतरीन भाई साहब।
वह देखो, उड चली पतंग,

मन मेरा भी उड़ संग चला,
मानो संग कोई विहंग चला,
अन्न से आच्छादित उर्वी-अंग,
आँगन,देहरी,घर गाँव मगन,
उड़ते पतंग संग जैसे हम,
अपनी मस्ती में मस्त मगन,
वह देखो जी उड़ चली पतंग।
