Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore – 2

Maybe the only poet to write National Anthems of two countries, India as well as Bangladesh.

Gurudev had been at the foremost in the struggle for independence in his own way. He started a school of education in Kolkatta, where students learnt in natural surroundings. It was not a typical school, but a school where a student could explore his / her artistic abilities. He wanted to prepare the generation which would guide India after Her independence.

He also gave up his title of “Sir”, conferred upon him by the British King at that time, to protest against the brutal massacre of Indians at Jallianwala Baug.

A very humble poet, who has written many a poem, a few which I share here as my “namaskaars” to this great soul. Am quoting His poem which his apt for the situation today.

Patience

If thou speakest not I will fill my heart with thy silence and endure it.
I will keep still and wait like the night with starry vigil
and its head bent low with patience.

The morning will surely come, the darkness will vanish,
and thy voice pour down in golden streams breaking through the sky.

Then thy words will take wing in songs from every one of my birds’ nests,
and thy melodies will break forth in flowers in all my forest groves….

The way Gurudev has described the situation is something which we all need to learn in this situation. We all need to imbibe this quality of Patience with us.

Bow down to this great son of Mother India and let us celebrate his life with love, warmth and affection.

Buddha Poornima (Reblog + Additions)

Sangham Sharanam Gacchami!

Dhamam Sharanam Gacchami!

Buddham Sharanam Gacchami!

I bow down and go to the Sangh, Dham (Religion) and Buddha for enlightenment.

I purposely began with Sangham Sharanam Gacchami as opposite to what people say. Cause I believe that even He, The Enlightened One, will agree with it. Go the the Sangh first. Follow your “Dharma” second. And then come to me. Buddha, as history tell us, is the first to establish a Sangh, for propagation of religion. He gave a very well designed way to spread religion through the Sangh. India will always be indebted to Him for this. And as a result, we see that Buddhist thought and philosophy has not only spread all over Asia, but also dominate the thinking process of Asia in a way. The famous travellers HuenTsang and FaHien with the help of King Ashok, King Bimbisara have translated many of the Buddhist literature into Mandarin and helped in spreading the word of Buddha far and wide.

Buddha means the enlightened one.

Buddha means unattached.

Buddha means the great leader.

Readers, last blog had left a question unanswered that why are the followers of Buddha, a proponent of Ahimsa (non – violence), fish eating or meat eating? Has He allowed this? Friends, let us go back to the era when He lived. To propagate His thought, he approached the intellectual class at that time. This class did not respond to His call. So He accepted whosoever responded to His call. He accepted them as they are and yes believed that slowly they would change their ways of eating. And change, they did. But if it is translated as meat eating is allowed by Buddha, then it’s our misconception about Him. He cannot be blamed for the misinterpretation.

And so I believe what my spiritual master has told me.

An individual who guides lacs and crores of people to lead a simple and an austere life should be accepted as an Incarnation of God. And Buddha is no different.

I bow down to Buddha today, and submit myself to His care and warmth.

Buddham Sharanam Gacchami!

Mother Earth Day – 2

What has She, for us, not done?

Can we not all our wrongs, undone?

She never cries or complains but shares

We Her son’s behave like who cares!

Let us today pledge our love to Her,

And She loves us more for sure!

She is more our Mother, than Earth,

Let us all rise above our dearth.

The only thing we can do for Her,

Plant and replant and let’s save Water!

She will bloom and smile and rejoice,To us She will share her fruits and joys!…

Am sharing the poem which I wrote last year on the same day as we earthlings celebrate Earth Day.

The context today has completely changed. Today we are fighting the most dreaded virus, Corono, collectively called Covid-19. Our Mother Earth is blooming and purifying herself as Her favourite son, Human, has stopped all his activities which were polluting Her.

Am reading reports that the water of the Ganges which we have polluted during the last many years of industrialisation and development, has been cleared and people living on her banks are just filling up their pots with pure water of the Ganges.

The nest near one of our windows…

The flora and fauna around my house is blooming too. From a last few days we are observing a crow couple building their nest and preparing themselves for the upcoming raining season. It’s a treat to watch them work so hard to build their nest. It made me realise that every animal does work for it’s well being and tries to live in harmony with nature.

Hope we Humans realise our mistakes and try to correct them!

Hope we Humans try to learn to live in Harmony with Nature!

Hope we Humans make this Earth a better place to live in!

Let’s Heal the World!!!

Poem #21

Your Prayer!

The times are bad, but your words are very dear,

They give us hope to live in these ages of fear,

A day before you gave you words, a form of prayer,

I felt as if the God has taken a form, in their flair

I create” is what You trust and believe in the most,

And “I will come again” when the world is way lost,

The above two phrases are not just words alone,

But the drive to do HIS work, as it is my own

A very spontaneous flow of words which just flowed through the mind, and I have just written it the way the words shaped up. No editing, no correcting, so it might sound raw, but I dont want to change a word, as it has come from within.

My dear friends, the world is passing through a very bad phase, when we are fighting against our own selves, as these viruses are also allegedly man made. Don’t know where this fight will lead us to, as it is too early to take a call.

One thing is for sure, it can be fought only with Prayer.

PRAYERPositive Reassuring Action Yielding Eternal Results.

I read this on the net and I have started thinking about it. I shared it with you all so that even, you, my readers, can think in your own way.

Till then, see you all…

Happy Easter Sunday

The symbolic language of the crucification is the death of the old paradigm, resurrection is the leap into a whole new way of thinking

– Deepak Chopra

The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon Him

One final breath He gave
As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated

Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive

We sing hallelujah
We sing hallelujah
We sing hallelujah
The lamb has overcome

PS : Have not posted the whole carol…

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday. The day when the Son of God gave up his life for the betterment of humankind. Just yesterday was the Holy Thursday when Jesus had his last supper with his disciples and spoke about his imminent death. He was treacherously caught that day night itself and produced before the Pilate. Religious leaders insisted on Jesus’s crucification and relenting to this pressure, the Pilate agreed. Jesus was crucified today. His last words “God, Forgive them, for they know not what they do“, are enough to explain his love for humankind. We all know that Death is no good thing, rather it’s a sorrowful parting. But Jesus gave his life for the good of many, so it is called Good Friday.

Lets remember Jesus Christ throughout the day.

Let’s His thoughts and deeds be a guiding force of our lives.

Let His love soothe the mankind during these days and give us the strength to stay strong and come out of this pandemic

Will end with my favourite school prayer…

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Tathastu! (May your wish come true)

Tathastu! A blessing from God. Every now and then people line up at His residence to ask for something. To correct something. To change something. And while asking, we forget whether the thing we are asking for is truly needed or our asking is out of just boredom.

My Elder brother and Spiritual Master His Divine Holiness, Pandurang Shashtriji Athavale (Dadaji) always tell us during his discourses that think before you ask. Because if by chance God accepts your wish and says Tathastu, you do not know the consequences of it.

Friends, today while reading a message I was again reminded of this. Will share the message first with you all.

This qurantine is Gods way of accepting a ton of wishes of:

  1. Kids: Can we have no school and play all day? – Tathastu
  2. Women: can we have the undivided attention of my husband who works so hard?- Tathastu
  3. Husbands: I’m sick of this traffic and commuting i wish i cud stay at home and work n Get paid – Tathastu
  4. Working Moms: I wish I could spend some quality time with my kids and relax – Tathastu
  5. Students: I wish i wouldnt have to study for my exams? – Tathastu
  6. Old Parents: Wish our kids could spend more time with us rather than being busy everyday? – Tathastu
  7. Employee: Hate my job, i need a break.- Tathastu
  8. Employers: Have no life, wish could sit home and watch TV – Tathastu
  9. Mother Earth: I cant breathe, i wish I could get a break from all this pollution and chaos – Tathastu

Think about in today’s context and let’s all now think what all have we asked from Him.

Shouldn’t we think before asking for something?

How deep and futuristic should we be before asking?

Why should we ask when all our basic needs are being satisfied?

Friends resting, relaxing and playing at home, let’s all think about such small things in life too.

Tathastu!!!

Poem #20

Your Words…

I wait for your word divine

Angelical and sweet as wine,

Intoxicate me out of your care

I dont wish that I should share

But people do not understand

They find them like a magical wand,

And use them to fulfill their needs

But forget the love for their seeds

For me I repeat they are my life,

Just like water to a thirsty life,

And they make live another day

To sit on their swing and sway

Please keep in touch in these times

Your words sweet, the ringing chimes,

A day, a week, a fortnight, some time

Your words worthy more than a dime…

PS. : I have written this just now out of gratefulness to my Elder sister (Didiji), of whose Parivaar (family), She considers me a part of it. And I too consider it a blessing. Her love, Her attention, Her care, Her teachings, Her words are always an inspiration for me personally. Today I tell you all that the inspiration for me to write is only Her.

Vacations on Earth… 2

The Earth needs a break

And the society and so do we,

We have gone far apart

Need to come near, you and me…

The virus so minuscule

But it got us together again,

In the world so large

We enter our homes with pain…

Well keeping in the line of thought that we were talking about yesterday, got a few good responses especially from my seniors. The thought of distancing oneself socially maybe the need of the hour. But it is making us understand what coming together is. We want to stay together and spend time with each other. We again have time for our friends, family, near and dear ones and last but not the least for ourselves.

Don’t you all feel that in this mad rush of social distancing, we have already distanced ourselves from our own Soul. We have distanced ourselves from the God, who created us. We have not only distanced but alienated ourselves from the One who resides in us.

We have, even if we do not agree.

Now a person may feel that in these difficult times, when the Prayer places and Places where we say God resides, are shutting down to the devotees, what is the use of talking about such a God, which cannot even protect itself. I would just would like to point out to these dimwit yet so called intellectuals that please carry on your throatful but mindless rants against Him. But my question at the same time is that who gives you the thought to write against Himself? Who moves you intellect to think? Who makes your heart beat to keep you thinking? Just apply your brains and think logically. Faith is complete and Reason can be incomplete is what we devotees of Lord Ganesh know. It is the spirit of thy Father that speaketh in you, as Lord Jesus Christ said. And if a person questions the same, the person needs to remember that it is with the strength of something within, a person can question.

Let us utilise this time in realising the indwelling God and learn to respect everyone and every part of the creation, living or non living. Science too has come to the belief of believing in life in everything and stops short of acknowledging the Maker. But that’s fine. We should atleast develop a scientific behaviour even if we dont believe in God.

Let us put this time to something fruitful and pure and divine to upgrade our lives.

Let us put this to a positive use of finding some good things within, which we already have but never explored.

Let us unwind and be ourselves.

Let us go close to our nature and correct and update our inner systems.

Let us socially distance, but personally decrease the distance between ourselves and our God.

PS : Please air your views and keep waiting for another blog too…
