Quote #53

I took a break, well planned break for a month from WordPress and am again beginning today. Henceforth will post regularly, maybe not everyday.

I begin today with the words of Rumi, which tell us many things. Hope we understand.

These times will be memories forever…

In context with the current situation, the different experiences of staying at home and spending time with family in this way is something one had never imagined. Later, to some extent, we are going to be reminiscent of these memories.

HE got His house, won’t we?

It’s the conviction as well as trust and patience, that He will provide us the roof which we can call ours…

Please read between the lines for the spiritual message and do not take it as a political or social or a religious comment…

Quest to find oneself – 3

We began the quest to know oneself in the last blog. Furthering the cause to know oneself, we move a step ahead today.

We will sit at the feet of the great Guru of mankind and try and learn from Him.

Jagadguru Shankaracharya answers this question in His own way. The following 6 verses are together known as Atmashtak or Nirvanashtak. It is His own way and philosophy of non-dualism emphasized and explained in the 6 verses. It’s one of the best ashtaks I have heard (though my reading and understanding about the vast Vedic literature has its limitations).

Mano Buddhi Ahankara Chitta Ninaham

Nacha Shrotra Jihve Na Cha Ghrana Netre

Nacha Vyoma Bhoomir Na Tejo Na Vayu

Chidananda Rupa Shivoham Shivoham – 1.

I am not mind, nor intellect, nor ego,

nor the reflections of inner self (chitta).

I am not the five senses.

I am beyond that.

I am not the ether, nor the earth,

nor the fire, nor the wind .

I am indeed,

That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva,

love and pure consciousness.

Na Cha Prana Samjno Na Vai Pancha Vayu

Na Va Saptadhatur Na Va Pancha Koshah

Na Vak Pani Padau Na Chopastha Payu

Chidananda Rupa Shivoham Shivoham – 2.

Neither can I be termed as energy (Prana),

nor five types of breath (vayus),

nor the seven material essences,

nor the five coverings (pancha-kosha).

Neither am I the five instruments of elimination,

procreation, motion, grasping, or speaking.

I am indeed,

That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva,

love and pure consciousness.

Jagadguru goes in to explain every detail in the remaining 4 verses. Would love if my readers would make an effort to find them out and learn them. As it a quest, we have to make efforts for it too.

चिदानन्दरूपः शिवोऽहम् शिवोऽहम्

Happy Easter Sunday

The symbolic language of the crucification is the death of the old paradigm, resurrection is the leap into a whole new way of thinking

– Deepak Chopra

The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon Him

One final breath He gave
As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated

Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive

We sing hallelujah
We sing hallelujah
We sing hallelujah
The lamb has overcome

PS : Have not posted the whole carol…

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday. The day when the Son of God gave up his life for the betterment of humankind. Just yesterday was the Holy Thursday when Jesus had his last supper with his disciples and spoke about his imminent death. He was treacherously caught that day night itself and produced before the Pilate. Religious leaders insisted on Jesus’s crucification and relenting to this pressure, the Pilate agreed. Jesus was crucified today. His last words “God, Forgive them, for they know not what they do“, are enough to explain his love for humankind. We all know that Death is no good thing, rather it’s a sorrowful parting. But Jesus gave his life for the good of many, so it is called Good Friday.

Lets remember Jesus Christ throughout the day.

Let’s His thoughts and deeds be a guiding force of our lives.

Let His love soothe the mankind during these days and give us the strength to stay strong and come out of this pandemic

Will end with my favourite school prayer…

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.
