Kerala Travel Diaries – Day 1

Atlast our trip to Kerala began on the 25th of May. An eventful day with lots of fun and laughter.

We all gathered at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 10.30am for our 11.40 train. And we were lucky to reach early as one cab missed the bridge and went ahead on the eastern expressway and had to travel atleast 3 to 4 kilometers before it reached the terminus. Yet we were at the terminus well before time.

The journey was going to a long one as it would take atleast 25 hours for us to reach our destination Ernakulam station. The journey via train was one of the first long distance journeys we all undertook as a family. The excitement of being together and spending time togther will be the best part of this journey.

It all began when the train left the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and picked up place as it exited the platform. With prayers for a safe journey, our journey began with theplas and sandwiches. The mouth watering jam sandwiches were devoured the most.

As the journey progresses and we passed through Panvel and Chiplun, it brought back many memories from the past. The days of youth and when we as youth would travel to Chiplun for meetings and work.

The B6 coach was slowly erupting into loud laughter now and then. The best part of the day was when we all played Dumb Sherards. The three generations, the grandfather, the father and the grandson, roughly from 1950’s to the current times were all competing to prove that they can express themselves the best. The movies from Bees Saal Baad to Jay Santoshi Mata to Aastha were all acted out and tried to be recognised by the fellow team mates. It was an exhilarating experience.

Well the evening concluded with a spicy dinner and at 10pm sharp the lights were switched off with dreams of reaching our first destination, Ernakluam…
