If intellect can encompass Him, then how can He be limitless?
If mind can grasp Him, then how can He be God?
Was listening to this Qawaali the other night and these two lines were just absorbing and though provoking for me. The poet Naz Khialvi has so beautifully woven the verses of his sufi poem “Tum ik gorakh dhandha ho” about proving the existence of God. Composed and sung by none other then the legend himself Nusrat Fateh Ali Khansahab it leads us to another dimension itself.
The Upanishads too talk and explain about the limitless God and the Rishi’s when it comes to describing God or proving His existence say ‘नेति नेति‘ (Neti Neti) – that I dont know or His existence.
Sometimes I wonder even after the wonderful experience of seeing / understanding God, they say the know not. Why? As I believe to each his own experience. And our Rishis are the most democratic in a way that they want each one of us to experience Him in our own way.
There are many ways of attaining Him or experiencing the fullness of life, but to each his own. No description so no bias or expectation and so to each his own. Our Rishi’s want us to walk on the path but are not ready to describe the details.
Let us all tread on our paths.
Let us all get to see Him.
Let us all experience the Fullness.
