The Neighbourly Way

Are the neighbours going to fight?

Is the question in everyone’s mind,

The clouds of war are in near sight,

The treaties they sign, nowhere bind…

We live along and share our borders,

And quarrel alike some brothers,

The old wounds that makes us bother,

There is fire which nothing smothers…

Panchsheel and Buddha gave us a way,

We chartered the path till we can,

Always a hand forward ready to sway,

A big heart, we kept, like a man,

The days of friendship are over now,

Cause Shree Krishna way, will we tow…

A sonnet is a 14 line poem which can be written in different rhyme schemes. I have followed a Shakespearen rhyme scheme of a b a b c d c d and e f e f g g. Its talks about a problem in the first 8 lines and then the solution in the next 6 lines. Have purposely kept my topic away from love and written about a geopolitical issue of my country.

Will be trying to write more sonnets in the near future and maybe a few romantic ones as well…
