Home, where Savarkar was born…

अनादि मी अनंत मी, अवध्य मी भला मारिल रिपु जगतिं असा कवण जन्मला ।। धृ ।।

अट्टाहास करित जईं धर्मधारणीं
मृत्युसीच गाठ घालु मी घुसे रणीं
अग्नि जाळि मजसी ना खड्ग छेदितो
भिउनि मला भ्याड मृत्यु पळत सूटतो
खुळा रिपू । तया स्वयेंमृत्युच्याचि भीतिने भिववु मजसि ये ।। १ ।।

लोटि हिंस्र सिंहाच्या पंजरी मला
नम्र दाससम चाटिल तो पदांगुला
कल्लोळीं ज्वालांच्या फेकिशी जरी
हटुनि भंवति रचिल शीत सुप्रभावली
आण तुझ्या तोफांना क्रूर सैंन्य तें
यंत्र तंत्र शस्र अस्र आग ओकते
हलाहल । त्रिनेत्र तो
मी तुम्हांसि तैसाची गिळुनि जिरवितो ।। २ ।।

(Do exist from existence, and will exist till the existence, Cannot be killed, Do you know of such enemy who has been born anywhere, who can get me killed…।।)

Today on the “Atmarpan Day” of the poet who has written the above lines, my heart is filled with remorse and sadness, that his followers today do not understand his thoughts. He has been made an ideology, and people across the country are trying to showcase as if there is a fight between his ideology and that of “Ahimsa”.

Those who follow him, will remember him through his songs and perform plays and acts depicting his life. By the end of the day, they will feel fulfilled that they could remember him. But the question is, ‘Is this the only way?’ When will his followers, follow what he has said. And follow in totality, and not only the parts which they like.

The poet or rather the Son of this Motherland, whom we are talking about is Swatantryaveer Savarkar. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a poet, a philosopher, a freedom fighter, a rationalist. He had his Vision about India, which he has enlisted in his books.

Today is the day, when the divine soul left the body. I want to draw the attention of my readers to his rationalism. The day he felt that his body has finished its work, that it was destined to do, he decided to give it up. He stopped eating food. He did also write his thoughts about this. He justified his act by saying it is “Atmarpan” (giving back the Soul). He left for the humble abode with a sense of fulfillment about what he has done during his life for his country.

I bow down to such a Divine and Majestic soul. People like him are rare to find, and if we find them, rare to understand. If we understand them, rare to follow. And if we follow, very rarely followers completely succumb to them.
