Haiku #48 + Martyr’s Day

One who loves others,

Befriends them, shows compassion,

Is the Bhakt, I love… // 12 //

The chapter 12 talks about the ways of finding Him, and later Bhagwaan goes on to describe the qualities of His Devotee (Bhakt). He has described 36 qualities of a Bhakt, which our Rishi’s say are needed to marry Him (find Him).

Have begun with the first 3 qualities. The one who has the quality of “Advesta Sarvabhutaanaam”; one who does not hate others, meaning implied is that the one who loves others. One who befriends others, meaning counts them as equals. And the one who has compassion for others, meaning not look down upon the other, but try to get him to be equal. The other qualities, we will talk about when God permits.

Have also purposely taken the above 3 qualities cause the embodiment of these 3 qualities can be seen in the person who was martyred today. With all due respects and the differences of opinion I may personally have with his ideology, one thing is for sure that rarely we see or will see a man of his stature. It might take generations to understand him or we may not even ever. But one thing about the person is that he lived a transparent life. A follower of Shreemad Bhagwad Geeta, one may again not agree with his interpretation of Geeta, yet Bhagwaan has no problem with anyone interpreting His sayings in a way the way Geeta talks (reveals Herself) to them.

The Mahatma, as he is called today, lived a life of simplicity and experiments. He has experimented all his life and so truly he called his autobiography “My Experiments with Truth“. Rarely we see a person so open and transparent about one’s life and thoughts. On his Martyrdom day, I bow down to Him, as a soul in search of spirituality and God.
