Haiku #24

A selfless one

Is a Sanyasi – Yogi

Duty bound to work… // 6 – 1 //

The first shlok of the 6th chapter is a slap on the face of the people who want to run away from their responsibilities towards society, house and self and call oneself a Sanyasi or a Yogi. Bhagwaan further explains that the one who does his work selflessly is a true Sanyasi or a Yogi.

We too would like to run away from our duties. A trend nowadays is not to get married, again a run away from responsibilities. Or just throwing money around absolves us from our responsibilities. Does it? Do we fall into this category? Or we think otherwise? Think.

The shlok for your reference :
अनाश्रित: कर्मफलं कार्यं कर्म करोति य:
स संन्यासी च योगी च न निरग्निर्न चाक्रिय: ।।

Those who perform prescribed duties without desiring the results of their actions are actual sanyāsīs (renunciates) and yogis, not those who have merely ceased performing sacrifices such as as again hotra yagna or abandoned bodily activities.
