Haiku #17

Om, Tat and Sat are

The three names of Almighty

From the beginning… // 17 – 23 //

Always had the question is God without form (Nirgun Nirakaar) or with form (Sagun Sakaar)? If without form, how do we address him? Herein lies the answer. Call Him “OM”, “TAT” and / or “SAT”. All three are His names. And from Him came everything, the beginning of the Universe and later Humans, scriptures and all.

Let me also clarify, lest people understand that Geeta advocates only devotion for the Formless God. Rather She talks about both, but leaves it upto to Her readers to follow the path that they wish.

The Shlok for your reference :

ॐ तत्सदिति निर्देशो ब्रह्मणस्त्रिविध: स्मृत:
ब्राह्मणास्तेन वेदाश्च यज्ञाश्च विहिता: पुरा ।।
The words “Om Tat Sat” have been declared as symbolic representations of the Supreme Absolute Truth, from the beginning of creation. From them came the priests, scriptures, and sacrifice.

  1. When you are trying to know him, he is Saguna. When you realize him, he is nirguna. He is He, the Saguna or Nirguna is only with respect to our states of existence. If he is not Saguna, what you see and perceive is not him. Then he is not omnipresence. But if he is, he is all name and form. Thus Saguna. But name and form exists to us, or rather, to him as us. But when we become him as HIMself, what else is there to comment? No second. That is why Nirguna. So, there is no question of “whether he is Saguna or he is not Saguna” ……. Tat Sat – He IS and that is all to the ultimate story of GOD.
