The tree with its roots

Above, branches below, and

Leaves are Vedic hymns… // 15 – 1 //

The one who knows the tree described above is the knower of the Vedas, is what God says. The shlok tells us that if you have to seek knowledge and move upwards in life needs to go back to the roots. It is a beautiful description of the knowledge one needs to attain.

ऊर्ध्वमूलमध:शाखमश्वत्थं प्राहुरव्ययम् ।
छन्दांसि यस्य पर्णानि यस्तं वेद स वेदवित् ।।

The Supreme Divine Personality said: They speak of an eternal aśhvatth tree with its roots above and branches below. Its leaves are the Vedic hymns, and one who knows the secret of this tree is the knower of the Vedas.
