Haiku #3

His Wishes fulfilled

By Gods, when he eats alone

Know that man as thief // 3-12//

A difficult one to make a Haiku but purposely took it up.This Shlok has become dear to many hearts, as here God plainly states that even after I fulfill humans wishes and he just sits behind and enjoys them without even acknowledging my help and even offering some part back, is nothing but a thief.

The shlok for your reference :
इष्टान्भोगान्हि वो देवा दास्यन्ते यज्ञभाविता:
तैर्दत्तानप्रदायैभ्यो यो भुङ्क्ते स्तेन एव स: ।।
The celestial gods, being satisfied by the performance of sacrifice, will grant you all the desired necessities of life. But those who enjoy what is given to them, without making offerings in return, are verily thieves.

  1. I’ll admit that I don’t fully understand the haiku (which somehow makes it more memorable and fascinating) but your last paragraph hits home 100%. Thanks truly for your support (with likes) on my blog; it has been very encouraging at times and along with support from others, helped me continue.

        1. Oh sorry to misunderstand… again I believe that it is the God inside me, making me write…
It is as the Holy Bible says : It is not ye that speaketh, but the Spirit of Thy Father within you…
Or as Sant Tukaram says : Aapuliyashi naahi bolvat, krupa Bhagwantachi…
It is happening only because He wishes it to happen… I am merely an instrument…
