Thought #3

The new academic year has begun.

The rush to become more intelligent has started.

The madness of being better than the other is being fuelled!

Always have this thought that we, as parents, cannot treat our kids as kids and just make them machines ready for challenge and instill a wrong notion about excelling in life.

At the same time, it is a must to inculcate a challenge in their lives, but lets make them learn to challenge oneself. One needs to compete with oneself, not others. One needs to outshine oneself to move ahead in life.

A man is his own yardstick of measurement.

Will we, as mature parents, be able to do this? Its a challenge for us.

Or do we, as immature as we are, make our kids the part of a rat race blended with a false sense of achievement!

Please think and act!

Let the child within mature and grow,

Lest make him a part of regular flow,

Let’s not kill the humanity within,

And let him thrive in thick and thin,

Make him understand the ups downs,

And never should we look and frown,

Let him enjoy his own self wise,

Teach him love and not despise,

The parent too is a child himself,

Take care of the kid as it is yourself…

Happy Parenting!

  1. Lovely Ameet. Crisp, loud and clear. Kids deserve the freedom to observe and learn rather than feel pressured.
Loved the last verse as well. Depth with sensitivity.
