The Gods have risen on Kartik Ekadashi. Now married to Tulsi too! A beautiful thought showing our childlike behaviour. It is like parents arriving from an outing and before the parents ask us anything, we get them involved in some other work or thought so that they forget to ask us what we did when try were away. God has slept last 4 months. He has awaken. So before He might ask us anything, we get Him married so He is busy with His family life. It sounds silly but the beauty is in the thought and how deep our seers have dwelled upon human psychology.
Today is Poornima. The Chaturmaas ends today for Jains (according to calendar it ended for Hindus on ekadashi). The Sadhus and the Sadhviji’s who had stayed at a single place from last 4 months will start their VIHAAR again. VIHAAR means to move from one place to another. No Sadhu is allowed to stay at a single place for more than 3 days, as there is a possibility of developing a sense of belobgingness. Hence the VIHAAR. (All of Hindusim has the same set of rules).
Also today is Guru Purab. The birth of Guru Nanakdevji. A strong advocate of Hindu beliefs and ideals, he was born during the Mughal rule in India. He saw the atrocities being meted out on the Hindus and so started the SIKH way of life to save the Hindus from the atrocities. He advocated the 5 K’s for every SIKH. KIRPAN (a small steel sword) KESH (non cutting of hair throughout life) KANGA (wooden hair comb) KARA (a steel bracelet) and KACCHHA (a cotton underwear). Each and every SIKH is supposed to follow these 5 K’s throughout his life. He travelled around India and aroused the feelings of patriotism and brotherhood.
On His Birthday, bow down to Him with utmost humility. We express our gratefulness for His foresightendness and His bravery.
To all my readers, this is the last blog in my series of Monsoon Months and am grateful to them for reading my blogs and giving their valuable suggestions. An interesting point I would mention to you on this ocassion is as follows: divide the year into 4 parts having equinoxes and solstice as points. Associate our DAY with an year. Now, the solstice in Dec is like our Brahmi Muhurt when we wake…and so on. This gives you a clue as to when God/devas sleeps (symbolically) and wakes. The axiom we r using here is the 360days of human are 1day of Gods.
Anyway…nice article. When I saw u r god sleeps and wakes analogy, reminded me of this. Thought it will help u somewhere!

It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out of date rehashed material.
Great read! I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google
