Today, is the 20th July, 2018…

Man first stepped on moon.

The famous words “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”.

Will an Indian put his / her foot on the moon? Is a question which our scientists can answer. But till that time, let us just recall a few things about the moon, especially the Hindi movie songs based on the moon.

Moon, for me, in my childhood has been Chanda Mama… All my Indian readers will gladly remember calling him the same in their childhood days… Our mom singing “ચાંદા પોળી, ઘીમાં બોળી,…” Or “चांदोबा चांदोबा लपलास का?…” Or “चंदामामा दुर के…” while trying to feed us.

Now as we grow elder, we know that is it just a ball like earth. Science calls it the natural satellite of earth. It was also formed when the earth was formed. The only difference is that earth was formed out of the sun and the moon was formed from the earth. So the moon is as old as our earth.

Moon effects the earth and causes high and low tides in the oceans. It comes closer to earth twice in a day causing a high tide and goes far away causing a low tide.

Similarly moon is said to affect the Humans too. Astronomically moon does have an attractive effect on us. But I don’t want to bore you all by going into its depth. Today let’s make it a little different.

For poets, Moon has become insignia of romanticism. The songs that we all have heard till date are not only mesmerising but also explain to us the importance of this celestial body plays in our life. Am enlisting a few songs about the moon which I like the most.
