Murder of Humanity

Last few days, am anguished by the way people have been talking about rapes happening in India… Especially Kathua and Unnao… The political and religious colour being given to it…

I truly am disturbed about these incidence regarding Asifa and the other girls… First question which comes to my mind is why selective outrage about a few incidents?… Doesn’t RAPE happen everyday? Aren’t we raping our women socially, religiously and mentally?

Which brings me to a basic question, Do we respect women of our society? Isn’t the women someone’s daughter, someone’s mother, someone’s sister or someone’s wife?…

We Indians are emotional about everything around us… We are the most expressive civilisation living now… We are ever inclusive and secular by nature… We not only feel for ourselves but we feel for our neighbours too… We feel strongly for the society too… And hence we hear dissenting voices around us always, as dissent is also our in our nature…

We are ever inclusive… We accept Non believers… We accept agnostic people… We accept believers… We accept Science… We accept Technology… We accept Reason… We accept Faith… We accept Aggressors and make them our own… We accept killers and involve them in our fold… We accept thieves and make them understand their wrongdoings… We accept the Seers and follow their philosophy… This is a long list… Just want to convey that we are ever inclusive… And that makes us secular… So we are secular from just 70 years is just a myth… So let no one lecture us on this, even our very own…

We have been and need to accept and respect different views, from time immemorial as we have been uptil time immemorial… At the same time follow what we feel is right… We can argue and counterargue, discuss debate and dissent, agree and disagree but let us understand that we need to keep our minds above biased thinking nor be biased by someone else’s thought…

After such a big introduction let me come back to the topic…

A girl is raped for many days and then killed… A huge outrage follows on the media about it… They slowly poison our minds with names of people involved and where the body was found… And slowly it becomes a rage… People feel bad about the rape and come out supporting the fight, in a way each one can…

My question is why this selective outrage? At the same time many girls would be raped all over India and the world… Why don’t we speak out then?…

What happened after Nirbhaya? Candle lights, laws and judicial fights…

In no way I want to suggest that this should not be done… We should fight but when will we find a solution to this mentality of Men which constitutes 50% of humankind? … Don’t you think we should all diagonise the root cause and come up with ways to fight it, solve it and eradicate it?…

Every girl/women being raped is a murder of Humanity irrespective of her creed, class, caste, religion or nation…

We as repsonsible citizens of India and preservers of the culture and civilization our seers have given us, should do the following things:

1. Stop reacting and start thinking proactively

2. Stop politicising every issue we can think of

3. Stop bringing religion, caste or creed of a person and think in terms of Humanity

4. Find out creative solutions for the same.

Always remember “LET’S BE PROACTIVE AND CREATIVE, STOP BEING REACTIVE”…

And lastly I want to pose a question to all boys out there who have come out in support of victims…

Just ask yourself when you see a girl what do u think of? Look at her as an item girl or a sex bomb or as an object that gives me joy… If YES don’t we first need to change the way we think… If NO then instead of just criticising the failure of the institutions come out with creative solutions for such wrong doings in our society…

Let us together as Humans come up with solutions and answers rather then fighting each other… At the same time remember that there will be different approaches towards the solution, so learn to accept and respect every approach…

Let us all remember

“यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते, रमन्ते तत्र देवता:”

“Yatra naryastu pujyante, ramante tatra devtaaha”

(God’s reside in places where their women are respected)…
