We bow down to the Goddess, who manifests as the Mother, Herself…
The days of Saraswati Pooja, Navratri…
Saraswati means one who knows the essence of self (सार + स्व)…
The days to ponder over the basic questions of every human which have led to the advent of Philosophy…
Who am I?
From where have I come? Where will I go?
What is my purpose of coming here on Mother Earth?
Goddess Saraswati is the guiding light to all these questions… These are the days to think over these questions… But we humans do we have the time to think over them?…
These days of Navratri (festival of 9 nights) are the days when the youth moves out at nights to play Garba (a traditional folk dance)… Nothing traditional left nowadays… The Garba (a mud/clay pot with pores and a Diya kept within radiating light through the pores) kept in the middle and the youth play around it in circles… It signifies that one has to keep God in the centre of his/her life and live one’s life around God… Our seer’s wanted us to think while we celebrate Navratri…
I am the son of God
The purpose is to live a God centric life
From Him I have come and to Him I will return…
At the same time, it’s a coming together of all humans forgetting barriers of language, caste, creed in Her presence… Just to inculcate a feeling of unity… However diverse we all may be, but in your presence, O Divine Mother, we are one…
Also would like to point out that Indian culture holds female equal to male… Goddess have a strong presence in Indian culture… Stories of Goddessess helping Gods to fight the Asuras and Rakshashas tell us the importance of female life in human society… She is शक्ति रूप (one who drives strength)…
…to be continued.
