Villages and cottage industry are/were the hub of economics in just liberated India. That was overlooked in the race of technological revolution. The 5 year plans were a complete hogwash to misguide us, Indians. From the day of independence, successive governments talk of development and technology, but do they care for Humanity? The cradle of Humanity, the Indian civilisation, is lost in all this…
So on this day, remembering and saluting all who in their own small way tried to contribute to Humanism. Maybe this is the only way to remember the Mahatma…

Nicely written and nice way of paying homage to Gandhiji. However, eventhough i fully agree with the view of Pujya Pandurang Shastri, i am not sure whether Gandhiji’s own partymen would have allowed him to do such constructive work. May be Gandhiji would have been frustrated with his own people had he continued…..

Very well written post. A little off the post, I have a problem with the way we put our national heroes on a pedestal. How we project them to be flawless. Our academic history books never point them out. Whether the Mahatma or chacchaji, inspite of their contribution to our freedom struggle, they made mistakes which we can learn from just the way we learn from their greatness.

sir. mistakes all do..but can we even do 1 % of what they did.. instead of digging their weak areas to sensationalise..it is much more useful to get imspired from them…isn’t it ? just my view.

In the two great books “Autobiography of a Yogi” and “living with Himalayan masters”, we see how even saints like Yogananda and Swami Rama, learnt and revered Gandhi. He was described as “The MAN who drags his body as if he is different from his body”. No wonder his dying words were on Lord, rather than his pain or the shooter.
